Sun Worshipers

I remember being in France as a young adult and seeing fields of sunflowers! Thousands of them, maybe even millions, all in bloom and turning with the sun – an amazing sight. Its a very distant memory, but I do remember that I had wanted to delve into the thickness of them, walk amongst them, as if walking in a forest. Now I have grown one sunflower in my garden – there’s another coming, but insects ate the other seedlings. I picked that one precious stem, and painted it from different angles, imagining that field that we drove too quickly past all those years ago, and the above is the result.
