It’s been a while since I’ve painted out of the classroom setting. We’ve been looking at Michael Lester, a Polish artist who came to Jamaica in his 40’s and stayed here, inspired by the vibrancy, color and light of Jamaican life. I started this painting at the beginning of teaching the current block, but with giving the classes and life in general have not had the time to finish it. This weekend I found my way back into the studio…. felt good…. Now to gather more ackee, and pumpkin, and breadfruit, and green banana and plantain, and avocado, and scotch bonnet and more, and get going!
